News ReleasesAlisa Morris FRED SHAPSS ELECTED PRESIDENT OF POLARIS INTERNATIONAL’S BOARD OF DIRECTORSFred E. Shapss, CPA, 63, has been elected President of Polaris International’s Board of Directors. Mr. Shapss’ term will begin May 2005 and will end May 2007. Polaris International is a worldwide network of international accounting and consulting firms with 200 members in key financial centers in 90 countries around the world. Mr. Shapss has testified as an expert witness on numerous occasions, including the representation of clients in the breakup of a large law firm, matrimonial matters, an arbitration of clients’ misuse of funds, a business dispute where buyer argued he had overpaid and the purchase agreement was faulty, plus an arbitration hearing representing a law firm where a partner left and alleged accounting irregularities. Mr. Shapss has extensive work in the securities industry and has testified as an expert witness in matters regarding improper margin calls. He is a CPA licensed both in New York and Florida. Mr. Shapss received his BBA from CCNY and has taken advanced courses including Real Estate Investment Analysis at the Wharton School of Business and Federal Taxation of Real Estate Transactions and Syndications at New York University. Mr. Shapss is a member of the Personal Financial Planning Committee of the AICPA, a past Secretary/Treasurer of the International Board of Directors of Polaris International and a faculty member and lecturer of The Accounting Firm Leadership Forum (2001 and 2004), and The Accounting Firm Partner Compensation Forum (2002 and 2003). He is active in raising funds for North Shore Hospital on Long Island, NY.
